Hope springs eternal

I could have spent the weekend drawing, or painting or doing something productive. Well, actually, I thought I was doing something productive since I was helping to steward a local art exhibition that I was exhibiting at. And it rained... No, to be more precise, it pissed it down. So for the two and a half hours I was there, the grand total of TEN people, (yes ten!) walked through the door to view the paintings. The whole total of visitors was only 239 over two weekends. So I the exhibition didn't do too well. And didn't sell many paintings. And I didn't sell any at all. Sigh.

But I know its the way it is with art exhibitions, and someone, may have just walked through the door and gone wow over my art, and bought something. They may just have done. And that was why I was there.....

I live in hope.

I have to.

Oh dear - I feel for you, having dealt with many a weather-doomed event myself!

This is the problem with any sort of event held during the great British summertime, isn't it?

NEVER, EVER give up hope! You are a fantastic artist. Bloody rain!

Luka - Yes you're right, the weather makes such a vast difference to summer events, too hot and people don't bother to come out as they'd rather stay at home and barbeque, too wet and they can't be bothered to come out and they'd rather stay in and watch the telly! I prefer a sunny but slightly cool day with maybe a few clouds, so it's not hot enough to sunbathe, and then they might just be interested in coming to an art exhibition!!!

Oh sweetie, the rain keeps people oin doors. They don't go out much especially if it's a biblical rain. hehehe.

Hope is good. I think you to be a very talented artist. Youwill do wonderfully...you just keep doing what you do. I adore your passion for your art.

Ciao babes.

Unfortunately we all have to go through these exhibitions and sometimes nothing comes of it, but then other times, they do! Keep on plugging!

Shit happens! as for the weather plus the recession, hey ho life is. Beleive in what you do n never give up, their loss not yours, the people that didn't want to come out into the glorious British rain lost out didn't they? They missed the lovely art, they didn't get to see loads of English talent... as I said.. their loss!!

Jackie Adshead said...

Indigo - Yeh, it might be their loss, but they don't know it because they weren't there - I need to get them there so that they KNOW - its all down to promotion. I can believe in myself as much as I want, but if the people aren't there, they're not going to buy anything are they?

Yeah ,I get ya point, but I was just giving you my opinion..!

Indigo - Yes, and I value your opinion, thankyou!
