Happy Birthday Blog - three years today!

Wow, three years blogging! I remember the first blog post I did and wondering what to say, never thinking that I'd still be doing it three years later! I had the chance at the time to do a newsletter and chose to write a blog instead. I may start a newsletter at some point, though. Its' all communication, isn't it?

I've made some special friends along the way and some of my friends in *real life* comment about things I've written about here, so even though I'm getting less comments than in the past, I perversely have more readers. Obviously they're very shy ones though, who don't think their comments are worth putting on my blog ...........

As for the goddesses painting, its Albert Dunn, I mean, all but done. Except for Kali whose causing me trouble - but then I suppose she would do, since she's the goddess of change and confusion, She's been trouble all the way through, but this time the trouble is that she has had too much work done on her and looks too sharp against the others. She needs softening about the edges (can you do that with Goddesses? Do they like it if you fiddle with them? Mmm.............). The others are softer and are flowing all together but Kali is just sitting there, alone, apart, quite sharp, too focused and too ......well ....powerful..... I think. Even though she IS a powerful Goddess. MMm....... I'll leave her over the weekend and look afresh at her on Monday to see what I can do to lessen her - not her power, just her fierce facial expression. The rest of the goddesses I am really really happy with and I think you'll love them when you see them too. I've certainly grown to love them, especially Diana, she's my favourite. I could look at her soft beauty all day long.............

And it looks lile my next commission is going to be a bit different to this current oil painting - a watercolour of a church for a special  70th  birthday present. Its a surprise, and hopefully it'll be a happy one. I understand that this particular church is very special to the lady in question - but then this is what I paint - special pictures for people - the 70 year old is obviously a religious lady - as its a Church of England church. But then, the Goddesses painting is for a male witch whose religion is Pagan. They both have their strong spiritual beliefs - I'm just delighted to paint something very special for them both regarding that! Its what I do!!!

Happy second birthday blog

I was going to say "Happy second blog birthday", but I've only got one blog, and "happy blog" sounds a bit overly joyful, so its "happy second birthday blog", whatever a happy second is - well, one way or another, you've got the drift - I've been writing my blog for two years now! Yay!!!

And I do love writing the blog, and receiving the feedback I get from it, either on the blog itself or in real life. And I love the friends I've made through it - I'm thinking of one in particular, and he knows who he is, on another continent, but who is very helpful and supportive of my art and what I do. And this week I've had a chat in real life with Fitzy who has been been supportive of my blog and art too - it was good to have a long chat with him and discuss the artwork he wants to commission from me, and I'm looking forward to meeting him at some point in the future, when we can sort out the logistics.

Other than than, I've started to draw out another Queynte, with a view to starting to paint it soon, so that's also exciting - as I'm never quite sure what they're going to turn out like until they're finished, which is odd for me, normally I know exactly what the painting is going to look like, but not with these fantasy fanny abstracts, which makes it more fun, and a bit more difficult for me, but they always seem to look alright in the end, so they work however they're created!

And my good mate Lucy Felthouse sent me a link this week for an article she wrote about her visit to Erotica in November - its here if you'd like to read her article.

So, what do you do when its your blog birthday - bake it a virtual cake and blow out the two candles? Ok....... I'll do that then! :)

Happy blog birthday!

Today is my first blog birthday! Yay!!! A whole year of blogging - Wow! I never realised when I first started how much I would enjoy it and what friends I would make through it.

And what a lovely way to celebrate it by finishing dj kirkby's erotic painting! And she's as delighted with it as much as I am, so that's two of us happy! Its been an interesting way of painting a picture, since all of the planning has been done by email. Its certainly been a very interesting painting to do because I had to first find out exactly what dj kirkby was thinking of when she suggested it, and that took quite a bit of time of emails back and forth as we both asked questions of each other and explored possibilities. Then I drew a few sketches and sent them to her to make sure I understood what she had described to me. She told me her thoughts. More adjustments were made, and I sent her some more detailed drawings. Again, she wanted changes and adjustments, and I found it quite a challenge to do what she had asked, but I worked though it and had a moment of pure creative brilliance (even I was impressed with it!!) and came up with the final design, and even the title for it, all within the space of one evening. Wow! And I know when that happens I'm on the right track, because the creative ideas flow and that means the painting will too. And dj kirkby was delighted with the result too - great stuff! From then, I just had to work out the colours and send her a working painting so she could see the final colours before I actually started the painting itself. And all this took a couple of months, on and off. But then, and only then, I could start the painting. But when I finally started it, I knew exactly how it was going to be laid out, the exact colours, the tones and where they would be, the interest, the artistic tricks that make the painting look interesting and as I painted it, it flowed and I could concentrate on getting the paint down and hopefully making it all pull together as a whole painting. I finished it and send a copy of it to dj kirkby and she requested a couple of final touches, which I did after checking with myself that it would add to the painting and not deter from the overall feel of it. And now its done. Finished. Another WOW! I've sat and looked at it since I've completed it, and would be very happy to have it hanging on my wall. I've put many long hours into it, both in physical design and in mental thought. Does it illustrate that? Yes it does. It's a clever painting. It both looks like an erotic couple AND it looks like a landscape. That's a huge challenge to do, but I've done it! And today's the day it's finished, born on the blog, and finished on my blog birthday! A good sign!

And cos I'm in a good mood, and I'm sure dj kirkby won't mind, I'll show you a few bits of it. You'll have to wait a while til I'll show you the whole thing, cos it was to be a secret until then. But, as a taster, here are a few poignant bits.........
