Queynte 21

Here it is, painted in acrylics, on board 20 x 16 inches, the latest Queynte to join the illustrious group of very feminine portraits that I have painted -otherwise known as the "Fantasy Fannies" . Its the twenty first one I've done, so it's called "Queynte 21" quite naturally. I love the mixture of strong colours against the strong shapes of this one. And as always find the more I look at it, the more I fall in love with it, which I know is often the case for the women who have had their queynte painted from the very positive feedback they've given me over the last few years since I started doing them. I know that most women find the process of having the painting done a deeply therapeutic experience, and that they feel empowered by them, and that it showcases the woman that they are, the private woman within, but here for the whole world to see. I love the fact that they are a celebration of womanhood, and are bright and vibrant and beautiful. And although they are an abstract the shapes are true to the feminine form, its just the colours that are more striking than the original colours. And like all the others it has the image of a woman within the picture as a reminder of what the image is about, and what it is there for.

I don't need to say the name of the woman who has participated in having her portrait painted, or say where she lives or even what her nationality is. That is for her to say, if she so wishes. I will keep her anonymity otherwise.

I love doing these paintings, as a woman artist painting them for other women around the world. The majority of the women who have participated I haven't met face to face, I wouldn't know them if they turned up on my doorstep tomorrow, but I feel that we are part of a sisterhood, of women who want to be depicted in strong vibrant colours, and want this spiritual experience to mark that empowerment. So, who will be next I wonder.......

Another fanny on the horizon

I had a really long chat with my good American friend from across the seas last night. Well, nowhere near the sea as far as he is concerned, and nor me either come to think of it! And although there were many miles between us (and a lot of ocean!) he could have just been in the next room to hear his voice.  We talked of various things, and people in our lives, and have many similarities and similar interests in common, which is probably one of the reasons we get on so well. But, the first thing he wanted to mention, with some intenseness of urgency, was the last painting I did, of the Royal Crescent at Bath and the various people depicted within the oil painting. He reads my blog, and follows my art with avid interest, and was aware of the latest painting I was working on, but until I showed it here, he hadn't got a clue as to what it was reeeally going to look like (any more than anyone else had, other than my description of it here, which didn't fully describe it other than the bare bones of it). So, when he saw it for the first time here, he was taken aback by the colours, the feel of it, and the detail, and the work that had gone into the painting. I think I sometimes forget that because I'm working on it, and describing it in words to people, that really they don't fully comprehend what it will look like, until they actually view it. I know when I have a painting to do, whether it's for a commission, or for an exhibition, I have a definite and intense thought of how to start, how I want to lay out the composition, what colours I shall use, the tones, and siting of the lights and darks, and where the focal point will be, but after that I work on it as I go along. MMm..... no, that's not exactly right, as that sounds like I haven't got a clue as to what I'm doing or how. And I have.

Let me explain it a little better......

I spend a lot of time thinking about my artwork, nine tenths of painting it is the thinking aspect of it, no matter how many actual hours I put into painting it, it has far more thinking put into it. And that thinking will start with the practical ways to start it, but I don't have a finished picture in my head (unless its exactly a copy of a photograph depicting a place, or person in which case it will look like the image I'm working from!). But after that, once I' ve started, I will be thinking whilst I'm painting, I will be thinking when I have a tea break, when I'm having my lunch, or a walk, when I am watching TV at night later on, even if I'm out with friends in the quiet moments between conversations, when I am in bed falling asleep, and when I wake the next day, and so on, and so on, until the painting is finished. In in all that thinking, I will be assimilating ideas, working on colours, on the design, on the textures, and thinking of previous paintings I've done, and the experience of all of those, and using all that artistic talent and my huge experience to paint this painting, and add the artistic bits that make the picture more interesting and dramatic. So, its no wonder people don't have a clue as to what my painting will look like, since its all in my head, until it gets transferred from there, down on paper or canvas.

Towards the end of our conversation, he asked me what my next painting would be. And I smiled, and said that I wasn't fully sure. But, that wasn't actually true, because I know what I shall paint next, it's the one after that I'm not fully sure of!

Because, the one that is next, is one that I have been wanting to do for some months. One that I have been waiting impatiently to do. One that I shall LOOOVVVVVE to do. As its one of my favourite subjects.

And the subject matter?

Oh, I think you can guess......

It's another Queynte.
To add to the collection of  "Fantasy Fannies". And I think you might have  clue as to what that will look like! But not the colours I shall use. Not the shapes within it. Not the end result....

Juggling and being thrown an extra ball

The life of an artist is one of juggling. Juggling the one job you're currently working on and searching for the next one. Although I do know of some artists who can work on more than one painting at a time. I can't do that, and more to the point, I don't want to. I like to focus fully on the painting I'm working on, put all of my efforts into it, go with the momentum of it, let it fire me up, find my inspiration, and feed on my creativity to produce it, knowing I have put my all into it, and that it has my best, undiluted efforts, totally concentrated, and that it is as good as I can make it. Then afterwards I can sit back and admire it for all the talent and hard work that has gone into it. And then, I can go on to the next piece of work, and do the same with that one in turn.

So, although I am hard at work on the large oil painting of the Royal Crescent at Bath, and the life and people that inhabit that painting, I am also wondering what work I shall be working on next. Although, I am very aware that I have another Fantasy Fanny to do that was promised some time ago, and I really want to do that for the woman in question. She has been patience itself (and I know you read this blog, from far off shores, so thank you for that patience!) whilst I've had to sort my life out but now that its settling down again, I want to do that painting for her.

So sometimes I have to go out looking for work, and sometimes it comes to find me.

Like this week.

I have introduced myself via a mutual friend, to someone who it seems likes the sound of me, and is now offering me exhibition space in London later in the year. We are still at the negotiation stage, but it looks very promising.  And its the Fantasy Fannies that have caused the interest, and the invite. And that seems to be the way of them, that they are something that evoke a lot of  interest. And why am I surprised at that!!!! LOL

But, I am certainly delighted at the venue, and think that it may be one of the right places for them. A place that women go to, a place that women expect to see sex, a place that women celebrate their bodies, and themselves.

I'll tell you more about it, when its been finalised........

Unexpected changes

I really enjoyed chatting to the journalist from the Burton Mail the other day. I was pleased he'd given me 20 hours to mull over the questions, because that meant I could give him some indepth answers. But then his questions were very deeply personal ones as well.

It was a real fun thing to do, and we went through the answers over the phone. But I had to give him a pre-warning before we'd even started........

Some of the answers had been changed, to ones that were more a little more, well, suitable for a family newspaper.   Ok, he said with a laugh.... and we started with the questions....

Where and when I was born, hobbies, favourite food (which he was surprised about since my choice wasn't a typical one), favourite book (again a surprise for him since he'd never heard of it) and favourite film (I did really well and narrowed it down to four from about twenty! Since I've never had the just one answer!). Proudest moment, biggest inspiration, biggest love, favourite belonging, most embarrassing moment, hopes for the future, what I'd like to have written on my epitaph, but it was when we got to biggest and best achievement that we had the biggest problem. Because I was emphatic on my answer, and knew that he would struggle to put it in the paper. When I explained, he said that he himself was ok about it, but the paper wouldn't be. Ok, then, how do we phrase it so that they are happy with it, because this is definitely my answer. Ok......  I told him how I would word it, and asked him which part he wasn't happy about, and it was the one word I was expecting, the rest was ok. So, we had to write it so that I got the point across without spelling it all out in exact wording to make the vicar blush!

At the end of the session, he had a word count and was surprised that it was 600 odd, and that left him with a problem since it had to be 420. Ok, a bit of editing needed to be done then! Between us we went through what he had written, and he apologised for the fact we had to cut my words down, and he said that normally people don't put enough words in and it needs padding out. I said I could have easily doubled it, and had struggled in the first place to cut it down to make it more succinct! We worked on the phrasing, and between us got it down to 420 words. I said to him that he was the expert wordsmith and should know how to do it naturally, but as I worked through it he said I did it easily, and I grinned over the phone and said I wrote a blog post two or three days a week so was used to it!

I enjoyed chatting to him very much, and have a feeling we'll chat again.

Oh, and the thing that I feel is my biggest and best achievement, and the thing we had problems with? Well, it was the Fantasy Fannies, of course! LOL
I think we rephrased it to something like "feminine abstracts" which sort of hinted at it, without it being a problem for the paper!!!!

And whilst I'm on unexpected changes, I have offered to make a few subtle changes to the erotic abstract that I finished the other week, since the woman I did it for finds it a little perplexing still. Now, don't get me wrong, she knows exactly what is in the picture, and why, but she can only see parts of the image. It seems like I've made it overly complicated! We had discussed it a number of times, and I wanted her to look at it and be happy with it, not frustrated and confused, so I offered to make it a little more obvious, and she gratefully accepted. I shall do them infront of her and explain the changes first so that she can see what I'm going to do. Her children can't see anything in it but blobs and erratic shapes, so adding a few more blobs shouldn't make it less so, but it might make it a little more obviously erotic.......

I'll show you when I've done it, and explain a little about it for you.................

Well, who else was he going to ask?

In a way, its not a surprise at all - I should expect it really. Because if someone else is interested in art, has a bit of the creative spirit in them, and they have enough of an interest to try to have a go at it themselves, and want to improve on it, they're going to want some positive constructive feedback. From someone they like, respect and admire, who is friendly and approachable. Like any pupil of art, you want to learn and listen to the words of someone wiser than you on the subject. That's what teachers are for.
So, if its erotic art, what do you do? You ask someone who is knowledgeable in erotic art.

That would be......................ME !!!     :)

The new pupil in question has bought some prints of my "fantasy fannies" recently, and told me at the time how much he liked them and the subject matter, and that seeing them had encouraged him to draw some of his own. He asked beforehand if I'd be interested in seeing his artwork, and I agreed I would. He sent them to me for me to give my opinion on his sketches of the pussies (no, I DON'T mean the four-legged meowing variety!) asking for any criticism and my advice for any improvements he could make. I'll take a good  look at his budding artwork and give my considered opinion and hope that he can begin to make the improvements he seeks.

And I'll think about the possibility of teaching art .....................in particular..... sensual  art. And wonder how much of a market there is for it. I know there's a good market for painting flowers, wildlife, landscapes, still-life and portraits. But, how many people would be interested in workshops about sensual art? I don't mean pornography, I mean something tasteful. And that's where part of the problem is. Where does pornography end and erotic start? We all have our own interpretation of what erotic is, and what pornography is - and it isn't the same for us all. I've been to many life drawing classes, and in a way they're a little staid. The naked body is just a vessel, like a still-life jug or vase. And is certainly not a sexual or even an erotic thing. But I think its much more interesting when its a sensual creation - something that invokes eroticism! I just wonder how much other people think that too?

I was looking forward to having a discussion regarding that and other connected matters with the fragrant Lucy Felthouse last night, my friend the erotic writer, but  because of all the snow and ice we had to cancel it and will re-arrange another get-together for when the roads are more accessible. I was looking forward to seeing her again and having a good chat about all things erotic and creative. As far as business meetings go, its as good as any I know of !!!!

And they call this work.............................. :)

Looking back - and forward

Well it's been a funny sort of year - certainly art-wise I've not done as much as I'd have liked and yet when I look back I have actually achieved an awful  lot - I've continued with the Fantasy Fannies abstracts, painting more of the brightly coloured and highly popular Queyntes and Tarses in acrylics. That in turn led on to the innovative "Living flame" style of painting - translucent colours glazed over each other creating pretty colours to dramatic effect. As well as that I explored  making other abstracts, playing with colour and shape and creating fabulously exciting  paintings like "Interplay", "Wishful thinking", "Camouflage" and "Black jacket".

The "Fantasy Fannies" were also featured very favourably  in Jade magazine which helped to raise their profile as did the radio interview I did at Erotica.

I've also done the "S & M" watercolour painting - hiding the initials within the landscape, so only the people in the know know its there - I really enjoy hiding jokes and secret messages within my paintings and the people who commission them love the joke of it too - the ultimate conversation piece on your wall!

I've been told that I have a reassuringly friendly and professional way of drawing people that puts them at their ease, so that first time nude sitters feel relaxed and comfortable in my company - and the experience is not at *all* as scary as they expected!!!! That's good to hear, then!!!! LOL

I've sold paintings to USA and Canada, and exhibited at Erotica at Olympia, London, for the second year running and feel more established there as an exhibitor. It's hard work, but good fun, and I want to do more art fairs next year as I haven't yet found a gallery that I like the look of to sell my work, and who, equally, likes the look of me. Perhaps I need to go to London to seek my fortune in that direction.................like Dick Whittington ........and his cat! :)

I'm still busy with the local art group that I'm connected with, as well as the Guild of Erotic Artists, and get a lot of help, advice, networking, support and satisfaction from being connected with them. Through them I meet lots of artists and photographers and people generally interested in art and the creative spirit, and that helps in turn to feed mine. Plus, I get some intriging conversations, usually of a very non vanilla subject matter!! :)

I've met some interesting people - quite a few men have offered themselves to pose for me, including one from San Francisco who occasionally comes to England on business and is very keen to be part of my creative output. And  a few others who I may be able to use at some point but the most important one was at the end of the year when  my new male model came into my life and after chatting to him for a while I felt that we could do some work together, and I'm delighted that the drawings of him I've done so far are of a high standard and I hope that it continues in that manner. The fact that he likes the same rock music as me, helps considerably!!! (if he's been a Westlife fan, I'm not so sure we could have worked together! LOL).

Stuart with his outgoing personality and desire to help was a good friend to me throughout the year, and through him I did the talk to his local writers group which in turn led to me being offered a solo exhibition at the library next summer.

And added to the interesting people, is the publicist who has recently contacted me. He doesn't live in England but did for a while, and has a lot of contacts. We've had a few preliminary conversations and I like what we've discussed so far but its very early days yet and may not be exactly what I'm lookiong for. But, if it goes the right way, and its too soon to say yet, I may be painting some very interesting and exciting erotic art next year...............watch this space! :)

So, into the new year, and I've already got a very interesting commission to do - for a male witch - a "Goddess" painting - seven heads of the same goddess, in whatever style I like, in whatever medium I like. But.......each goddess has to be recognisable. This one has got me thinking, and now Christmas is out of the way I can spend more time concentrating on it, because this is a big one and needs a lot of deep thought and focus. Also, I want to put some "magic" into the painting, somehow. As this isn't an ordinary painting. It's a special one, for a special person, for an extra-special reason, and that unique specialness should show within it. So, that makes me think that I may end up painting it twice - firstly as a practice painting to get the creative juices moving, and then as the proper one, the one when I dig into my spirit and pour it into the painting, that's when the magic appears........... and that's what I want to build on next year, making magical paintings for people. The sort that talks to your spirit, your soul, the sort that you want on your walls because its an extension of who you are.

That's what I paint.

Its Erotica time......

I'm always hyped up before an art exhibition. The thrill of knowing that now is the time to show the art that I've been working on since the last one. To take the stuff that has meant me working late into the night, and missing weekend fun, to continue working on. The confidence in knowing that the art is the best I can take, that there is something for every price range, that there is a good diverse selection on offer. The joy of looking fowards to seeing my artist friends again. Knowing that I'm going to have some interesting chats with different people I've not met yet. Meeting new viewers. Some will look quietly at my work and walk quietly away. Some will look with lots more interest, poke around for ages in the browser and then will walk off (whilst I've been holding my breath thinking they are DEFINITELY going to buy SOMETHING!). Some will look with more interest, find something they like, and buy it. And some will RAVE over what I do, will tell me that its fabulous art, that I'm a clever girl, and will be REALLY excited about all of it and place large orders for commissions from me.

But there will also be conversations that I am not expecting. There will be offers for things that I hadn't considered before. Some will take me my surprise. And you can never really be ready for those, because you never know what they're going to be....

Last year I was offered cheap advertising that turned out not to be what it first appeared, and caused me a lot of aggro having to sort it out afterwards. I was offered the chance to hang my fantasy fanny paintings in a selection of international night clubs, and that didn't take off either. I was told I would be painting a picture for a sheik, and that didn't happen either (well, not yet, anyway!). But also I had a long and most interesting conversation about erotic art with a lovely man in a dress. And the best bit was when I met the bloggers who had come along. The ones who had their "fantasy fanny" on the wall. The ones who quietly said "I'm -------" and looked with great interest at the bright and beautiful artwork that was their fanny. They knew. And I knew. That it was theirs. But no one else did. Whether there will be any others who come along this year, I don't know yet. But if you do..............come along and say hi..............

Queyntes 18 and 19 seeing double

Well following on from my last blog post - it seems I've got a great success with the "Hot stuff" painting - and the person it is directly aimed at has fallen in love with it......... for all the right reasons! So I'm a very happy bunny! YAY!!!!

And so on to other things - another Fantasy Fanny to be exact. And I thought I'd try to do the painting just with shades of reds. It seemed a good idea when I started and I was confident that the painting would look good. But then it struck me that it might not be such a good idea after all. For....................er, oh, very obvious reasons!!!! So, I looked hard at what I had painted so far and decided that turquoise and yellows would brighten it and enhance the painting considerably, and that's what I aimed at, and think they do, vastly! I love the colours in this one, and the turquoise adds greatly to the image, to me. But then I'm a big fan of turquoise! So, Queynte 18 it is! Ah, but, there's more to tell. Because I liked the shapes and the tones, and thought I'd try and do it again, but this time with muted colours on a block canvas to see how that went - and I'm delighted with that effect too! You can see its still the same image, but its more "decorative" in its abstraction - a sort of "abstract" abstract in a way! Which was an interesting concept to explore. So that's Queynte 19. Instead of naming it "Queynte 18 muted" which it technically is, I thought it should have its own title!

And I had some interesting feedback re the Fantasy Fannies today - telling me that it was a mistake to put the little woman logo within the picture because then it was obvious what the image was. If I left it out it would be more abstract, and considered more appealing too and I might sell more pictures. I disagree. I think she needs to be there to make the point, even if I lose sales because of it. But I'm interested to hear what you think....................

As featured in Jade magazine

My "Fantasy Fannies" are featured in a lovely uplifting article about me in Jade magazine this month. But I'm having problems being able to show it to you by uploading it to Blogger. So, I think the easiest way is that if you would like to see the article and read it for yourself, email me at jackieadshead@btinternet.com and I will gladly send it to you in its entirity.

And will be most interested in hearing your comments on it afterwards.........

Queynte 17

After the success of Nitebyrds rainbow Queynte, I thought I'd go straight onto the next one but try something a little bit different this time with the colours. And keep them to as few tones as possible within the basic colour scheme. The original idea was to try it with three tones - cream, pale gold and mid gold. But I quite quickly found that it needed more depth unless it was to look completely abstract, so had to add some deeper darks and the brighter yellow to add extra interest. I also had to incorporate more texture in the painting, but I certainly think it works as a concept and the Queynte is as interesting as the more brighter coloured ones. I also think it might work well as a black and white image which might be a good idea for another one at a later date....

I've spent the weekend at art exhibitions that I've exhibited at. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and loved seeing my artist friends, loved seeing their artwork and was pleased with the standard of my paintings against the others there. But I didn't sell any. Its sometimes the way it is. Its frustrating. Its a shame, and a pity. I've put a lot of hard work into creating the artwork, into taking it to be hung, in the hope that someone might want to buy it. But they haven't. So, the paintings are returned to the cupboard. Until the next time. On the off chance that someone might want to actually buy them. One day.

And this is the reason that I much prefer commissions. Tell me what you want me to paint, and we'll discuss it. We'll agree a price, and I'll paint it for you. You'll be happy because you'll get exactly what you want, and I'll be happy because I'll be selling paintings!
So, does anyone want their Queynte (Fantasy Fanny) painted? :) In the single colour style seen here, or a brightly coloured one? If you do....................let me know...............

Queynte 16

Here she is - the next one in the Fantasy Fanny group - introducing Queynte Number 16.

It's surprised me how colourful she is (and I painted it!!!!) - a veritable rainbow of colour in this one. But those were the colours I saw when I looked at the photo I was working from, and that's what I've painted in this feminine abstract. I love them all though, whether they're bright or more muted colours, they all have their own personality and character. Perhaps they mimic the personality of the woman they belong to - but either way they are bright and beautiful, vibrant and full of life and vivacity.
What do you think?

More fannies to come

The art demonstration on my website has been updated now and shows the different stages of the watercolour landscape painting "Joyeuse S and M" that I've been telling you about, from start to finish. Stage one, pick up pencil, stage two start drawing.... No, actually, its not that bad!!! LOL I think its quite interesting, seeing the original photo, seeing how the image starts and progresses bit by bit to the finished painting..................have a look at it and tell me if you agree.............

And whilst I'm having a sort out of things to do (an endless list that seems to grow longer each day even when I'm knocking a few things off the list daily!) I've found something that I've over looked. I know WHY I've overlooked it - because when I have a commission to do, that takes priority over the other "general" art - the stuff that I want to paint and I think will look good as a painting for an exhibition at some point. So now I've had chance to catch up on those sort of paintings, and I've realised what I've not done. I've not painted all the "fantasy fannies" yet. I still have some photos I've not produced paintings from.........................some from across the oceans in a land far far away......................

So... guess what I'll be doing as my next paintings......................more fannies! Followed, probably, by some fantasy willies, followed probably by an erotic couple in the living flame style..........well, that's the plan! And plans have a habit of being interrupted..............................! :)

Fantasy Willies

Well I thought the time would arrive at some point. There was no doubt there. It makes sense, doesn't it? If you're doing a project called "Fantasy Fannies" it makes sense to do the "Fantasy Willies" too! A whole new ball game, so to speak............! And Fitzy has decided he wants to be the first member (anther pun?) of this project. I'm delighted! But this has got me thinking.......... about the comparisons between the fantasy fannies and the fantasy willies. The shapes of fannies are abstract to start with - when I look at the photos I'm working from, I can see abstract shapes, so I'm beginning with an abstract before I even start to draw. But, a willie has a more recognisable shape to start with, and the point of these paintings is that the image is half recognisable, half hidden. That's the point of the "joke" hidden within the painting. So, I have to now think how I'm going to hide the willie image within the painting. Its possible. Of course its possible. But to what degree do I want to do it? I'll have to sit down and work it out on paper. It'll be fun to play with shapes and the composition to do that.

BUT

I have another problem.

A ......... more recognisable problem.

To consider.........

Do I do them in an erect state or a more comatose state?

What do you think?

To be or not to be............................THAT is the question!!!! LOL

Queynte 15

Phew, at last... the unveiling of the next Fantasy Fanny! This is .......Number 15.
I still find them fascinating, as I never actually know what they're going to look like until I finish them. I'll paint it in pieces, a scarlet here, a magenta there, orange, lime green and lemon yellow, building it up like a jigsaw. Then when I'm near the end I'll stand back from it and judge whether a colour should be darkened, or if black would enhance various areas. Then, when I'm happy with the colours, I add the white, and somehow that makes it gleam more. The white adds high-lights and interest to the bright colours. And I think the white adds more than that to the painting, as the white is where the light catches it, where it glistens...............

Happy second birthday blog

I was going to say "Happy second blog birthday", but I've only got one blog, and "happy blog" sounds a bit overly joyful, so its "happy second birthday blog", whatever a happy second is - well, one way or another, you've got the drift - I've been writing my blog for two years now! Yay!!!

And I do love writing the blog, and receiving the feedback I get from it, either on the blog itself or in real life. And I love the friends I've made through it - I'm thinking of one in particular, and he knows who he is, on another continent, but who is very helpful and supportive of my art and what I do. And this week I've had a chat in real life with Fitzy who has been been supportive of my blog and art too - it was good to have a long chat with him and discuss the artwork he wants to commission from me, and I'm looking forward to meeting him at some point in the future, when we can sort out the logistics.

Other than than, I've started to draw out another Queynte, with a view to starting to paint it soon, so that's also exciting - as I'm never quite sure what they're going to turn out like until they're finished, which is odd for me, normally I know exactly what the painting is going to look like, but not with these fantasy fanny abstracts, which makes it more fun, and a bit more difficult for me, but they always seem to look alright in the end, so they work however they're created!

And my good mate Lucy Felthouse sent me a link this week for an article she wrote about her visit to Erotica in November - its here if you'd like to read her article.

So, what do you do when its your blog birthday - bake it a virtual cake and blow out the two candles? Ok....... I'll do that then! :)

Whose fanny is THAT?

Its not often that I talk about actual sales of paintings, I talk about painting them, I talk about commissions, and I talk about exhibitions. And whereas I love painting, I also love selling my work too. And, is often the way with art and being an artist, you never actually know where a sale is going to come from, or when, or how or who with. And there can be large gaps in between, and then, there is what I refer to as the "batch theory" - in that there will be a batch of nothing happening, followed by a batch of lots of things happening altogether. This has indeed been the case recently - Sweat shop sissy wanted to commission a fanny painting, that became Queynte 14, but as well as that someone else wanted to buy her Queynte - I'm not going to say who it is, or which number Queynte it is, as the whCheck Spellingole point of them is their anonymity. So, it was the case that I found myself wrapping two Queyntes this week to be posted off to their respective buyers. And that made me VERY VERY wary. Because............ I am careful to keep a note of who has contacted me to say they want their fanny painting, and then some of them will send me photos (some still haven't done yet - but are planning on doing at some point), some of the Queyntes have been painted and some haven't yet, and some of the women who have participated I only know by their blogger name, not their real name, but some I know by their real name too! So, whilst checking on the Queyntes in question that I'm posting out this week, I knew which one belonged to Sweat shop sissy, because I've only finished it this week, but the other one, I double checked and checked again, that the name of the real person who had contacted me matched the blogger name that matched the Queynte number before I wrapped it. Because I don't write the name of the person on the back of the painting, only the number. And I made DAMN sure that I DIDN'T wrap the two Queyntes together, then write the addresses on them - as one was going to Canada, and the other to an address in this country, as................can you imagine it...............picture the scene....................... Two women........in totally separate countries...................divided by a large Atlantic ocean................arrive home................ to find the post man has been........................ has delivered the exciting artwork that they've been waiting for................ as they smile to themselves..................... and reach for a pair of scissors...................... as they cut open the paper..................... as they open the package................. as they reveal................. the painting...............and hold it up infront of them............ and look at it for a long minute.................................... before saying.................................. WHO THE FUCKS FANNY IS THAT??? COS IT SURE AS HELL ISN'T MINNNNNNNNNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OOOHHH.... NO. I can't have that happening, can I ??????????????????!!!!!!!!!! LMAO

Queynte 14

Well I've been fannying around again this week - up to my elbows in fanny... :) Well, actually, one in particular! This one! Its taken me awhile to get around to doing it, but well worth the wait I think! Its been specially requested by Sweat shop sissy, and I had a request for the colours of it to fit in with the decor of the bedroom that it's going to hang in, in pride of place, over the bed, and I was delighted to adhere to that request as basic colours but added other complementary colours adding high-lights and contrasts. It also helped that the recipient had emailed me a couple of photos of her bedroom, so I could see the colour of the bedroom furniture and incorporate that into the colours for the Queynte too. I emailed her the finished image last week and was told she did the happy dance when she saw it! That's good to hear then!!! :) She likes it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its featured here on Sweat shop sissys blog.

And I was also delighted when I found out the country that its going to - its not one I've sold a painting to before, so that's a first for me! Yay!!

Well, here it is......Whaddduuyyyathink?

All that is me

After the last blog post I've had a few further discussions with my friend regarding my art and the expectations some people have of what I do. His reply is that he is interested in my vision rather than my interpretation of some body elses. He loves my art but doesn't wish to guide me because I am the artist, not him or anyone else. He feels that the art has to come from me, my mind, and my experiences, for it to be of value. And only through what I produce is my vision revealed. So its my vision and interpretation he is looking for. He feels that if he were to tell me how to paint then it wouldn't be my picture anymore, because I'd just be just like a version of a camera. He wants my name in the corner of the painting to mean something as interpreted my me.

And sometimes I forget this - I know I have to ask someone I'm painting a picture for what they want, what colours they like or don't like, what colour scheme suits them. Some people prefer oils or watercolours, or have an idea of a size in their minds. And I want to please the person who I am hoping to sell a commission to - so it makes sense to check that they're getting what I they want! :) But after I've checked the technical details, its down to me - to my vision of what i see in my mind, given the information a buyer has given me. That is when I produce the "art" as compared to the "image".

And that's the way it is with the latest painting - another Fantasy Fanny - I've got the photos, so I've got all the details of shape and colour. I've got the technical ability, experience, and materials. So, now its down to artistic ability. And over this last weekend I started the painting. Working out the best composition, drawing out the shapes, working out the tones with the lights and darks. Working out the colour scheme to fit into the bedroom its going in (pride of place, over the bed!! no less!!!!) and then................ I look............. and I see the colours before me in the photograph. I see purples and pinks, blues and ................. I put some loud rock music on....................... and start listening to the beat, feel it move within me................. and I look at the colours again........... and start to see them emerge ..................... the pinks merging into oranges, magentas, yellow ochres...........lemon yellow, cobalt blue, pale blue, maroon, purple, sage green.......... the music carries on, building up in the studio, and in me, and the siennas appear............then bright oranges, lime greens, scarlet and turquoise.................. and this is the painting forming. And ..............This is me.............. painting it.

Reviewing the year

Well another year gone, and lots happening in it...

I feel now that I am more established as an artist, proved by my ability this year to take three of my old paintings and re-vamp them to make them far more interesting than they were before, which brought my spiritual healer friend to label me the "Alchemist Artist" - a title I adore!

I've painted dogs, and captured their essence and spirit so much that I was asked why I didn't paint dogs full time and apply to Crufts to be their official painter. Mmm.... nice idea, but not *quite* as exciting as doing erotic art.... LOL

I've also painted people and houses, conjuring happy emotions with their depictions for the people that they are aimed at.

As the year has progressed, I've got more involved with being a member of the Guild of Erotic Artists, being their report writer for the times I've been at the event days, and more importantly being featured in the latest Guild book, which is a great step forward for me, both to be in it, as well as being featured along side such other great artists, photographers and sculptors. That's a great accolade. The book has had great reviews and the Guild intends to go on from strength to strength.

I've sold more artwork to the USA this year, which is great that my work is going a bit further around the world.

But, best of all, is the "Queyntes" series - the fantasy fanny project that started as a wonderful idea, and has proved itself as such by the vast positive response to it that I felt that I needed to exhibit them somewhere quickly. The best place being the "Erotica" show at Olympia, London. I've never worked so hard as I did to get that show in place in such a short space of time - but it was worth it for the chance to do an exhibition, a chance to show the fantasy fannies. And that in turn meant that I met quite a few bloggers - some of whom had their "Queynte" on show. So that was a wonderful experience too. As was seeing and hearing the wonderfully positive and upbeat responses to the "Queyntes" at Erotica from people who knew nothing about them and had never seen them before. Fabulous experience!!!

And since then, I've been experimenting with the the same bright and vivid abstract way of painting, and that has carried me on with new ideas and I think it will continue to do so......

So..... on to the new year. And what will that bring with it? Well my spiritual healer friend has finally finished writing her book on unicorns, so I shall now have the chance to illustrate it for her - something that I am looking forward to immensely. Plus I still have more "Queyntes" to paint - I count that as an on-going project, and hope to promote them in other places, and maybe even find another suitable venue for a bigger exhibition of them. Plus this abstract way of painting has also picked up other people who are interested in that way of painting, so I think I may be using that elsewhere for less, er, intimate artwork! And I've put my name down for a watercolour workshop painting .... er.... flowers.... in the new year!!! Tee hee! Ya never know - maybe I'll become a "flower painter" full time....... LMAO ........Nah, I don't think so!!!!!!!!!

But also, the really lovely thing is that I've met some wonderful people through my art - people who have open minds, who feed my inspiration with their positive and helpful comments - people who I consider to be good friends. And that's a wonderful thing to have.

So for the new year - I wish you peace and happiness, good health, and joy being with the ones you love. And for me I hope I continue to paint and bring happiness through my art. So I'll leave you with this image at the end of the year - the same subject as last year, but a different image - of a unicorn, the same one I used as my Christmas card, to bring light and love to you in the year ahead.

Queynte 13

I've not shown you a picture for a while, so thought it about time I did! Here's the latest Fantasy Fanny - introducing Queynte 13.......
