Beautiful dreams

The last but one time I saw her, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with her. I wanted her flat on her back with her legs in the air.

She complied, and naturally put her hand between her legs as she closed her eyes and smiled.......

And that was the pose I drew :)

But, somehow it didn't work. I think it was because I'd decided to work in natural light and it faded as I drew, so the lighting wasn't definite, but too defused. The picture was...................ok. Not good, but ...........ok.

This time when I saw her, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with her. I wanted her flat on her back with her legs in the air.

And I'd try it again. But this time with better fixed artificial lighting. And I'd get it right this time.

So, that is what we did. And I was perfectly happy with that idea. Until I walked past her to get to the power socket to plug the light in.

As I turned, and saw her lying there, with the light on her. I knew I'd made a huge mistake. HUGE!

The pose was far far far better from the other side!!!!!!

So, I set up my easel on the other side of her, and drew her from there.

And here's the picture. Far far better than the first (which I've now ripped up and thrown away!). The picture is simple, and yet effective. Its got some lovely lines in it, and just the basic light catching her womanly body, lighting her breasts, stomach, face and limbs. Its called "Beautiful dreams" and as you look at it, you think its of a woman lying sleeping. Until you find her right hand. And then you smile as you realise what she's doing! LOL

Black on white, white on black

I've finished two drawings this week - and although they are very different in subject matter, they are similar in technique. The first is a Christmas card design of the three kings done as a black pen drawing on white paper. I was asked to design a card using which ever I felt was best regarding the three kings/stable/Bethlehem skyline and decided in the end to use all three, mostly because I fancied doing the star! It didn't take long to come up with the design and after a couple of preliminary sketches I knew what I was looking for - the darkened forms of the three kings on their camels, heading towards the stable, and pointing to the star above lighting their way. Plenty of dramatic interest and lighting. I drew it out in pencil first then the outline in black pen, but realised that if I was going to draw in the night sky and every star it was going to take me hours and hours. So the obvious thing was to speed up the process by using a paint brush instead! And that decision meant I finished it all in one sitting rather than half a dozen which meant the finished image worked better as a flowing image rather than an over-worked laboured one. I'm pleased with it, I'm pleased with the effect, and hopefully the people who have commissioned it will be happy too! Although I think the image perhaps should be entitled "camels bum" since that's what's in the middle of the foreground!

The second drawing was a white on black erotic one, using just a bit of red in the detail of the underwear. I'm half happy with the result of the half naked woman. I like the pose, and what I've drawn, but, there's no "oomph" in it. It hasn't got the wow factor. The woman in the drawing isn't alluring enough as she pulls down her panties to reveal her bum. I think she needs to be more aware of the viewer, and the fact she's got short hair makes her look too boyish. Perhaps I'll have to buy a wig for my model or ask her to grow her hair!! So I haven't named the drawing other than "red nix" as I don't think its fully worthy of a name.
And I've just had a thought - There can't be that many blog posts featuring the backside of a camel, a half naked woman, three kings, and a pair of red knickers! Still, who wants to be boring!!!! LOL

All change

Recently I've been looking at a painting I've got in my studio, it's just been propped up against the wall for ages and ages. I did it a couple of years ago and everytime I look at it, something niggles at me that its not quite "right". I haven't been able to tell myself exactly "why" its not quite right, but I just know it IS....... MMm.....

When I saw my model this week she asked what the pose was for the session, and I nodded at this particular painting, since it was of her, and asked her what she felt was "wrong" with it. She looked closer at it, and said that maybe there was "something", but she couldn't say exactly "WHAT". I pushed her for more but she couldn't really tell me more than that, then added "You're the artist, you should know!" and she's right, I am. And I should. Its my painting. I created it. And if its not right, its not right. So, change it! OK. Decision made! But, change it to what? ....MMMmmmm........ More thinking.....

Ok, well, I know I wasn't happy with it being done in acrylics, and felt that it would have been a better painting in oils, so at least it was a start, to do that. Acrylics are often used as a base for oils, so it's quite natural to paint over acylics in oils and let the original colours show through a bit. Ok. Set up the pose again, and paint over the painting in oils. Gulp. Paint OVER? As in lost forever if I get it wrong? Yep! Ok........... If you're sure....................

So, that's what I did. I painted over it, in oils.

And you know what?

It was SSSOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo much better for me doing that! The painting lost its harshness, its half finished look, its gaudy colours and harsh lines. The oils blended on the canvas, the colours were more muted, and so more subtle, the woman in the painting came to life, you could see flesh tones and she looked as if the blood was pumping through her veins. She looked so more sensual and sexy and the whole picture just looked a million times better. WOW!!!! It needs a little bit more work doing on it, fine details in hair and maybe slight changes in the background colours, but its done! Big WOW! I'm so pleased I went with my gut reaction, even if it was a long time coming!

And this week, I've been asked to design a Christmas card, and been given mostly a free reign on designing it except that ideally it should be a pen and ink drawing, and it should feature the crib scene, or the three kings, or the Bethlehem skyline. Ok, sounds interesting. Certainly something different! So, whilst the sun is shining (at last!) on Englands pleasant green lands, and everyone is talking of barbeques and sunbathing, I shall be thinking of Christmas!

Getting tied up

The nice thing about bondage, as far as an erotic artist is concerned, is that the ropes can make such interesting patterns and shapes. This was certainly the case with my latest white on black drawing. I wanted to make an interesting diamond pattern down the front of the female torso and between her naked breasts. And also to shine a light upon the model in such a way that the white of the ropes were the central part of the picture with her body the paler part of the image. To create this I had to shine the light from one side and lower down to high-light her breasts and thighs, whilst losing the dark side of her body into the black of the paper, adding interest to the image and taking away what would have been a very boring symmetrical picture if I'd made the two sides of her body even in tone. To blind-fold her certainly added to the erotic intensity of the image, and the fact that the lower knot is pulled into the flesh of her crotch certainly makes the image powerfully sexy too. I've called the picture "Daunted" - it seems the best summing up of what's happening in it.

And for some reason, the model said that after a couple of hours in this pose she's seriously considering taking up macrame.........

Giving people what they want

Chatting with a male friend the other day, he made the comment that everything I do is sexy. "I wish" I replied and he said that as far as he was concerned, it was the case (and he's certainly known me longer than most people). So perhaps I am, I'd like to think I was (don't we all??) but he went on to say that I was "Psychoerotic" and since I was pretty sure he'd made that word up on the spur of the moment, I questioned what it meant - "Having the ability to plant the erotic in someones mind" he said. Mmmmm..... ok, interesting thought - I certainly like the description, so I'll keep it! So I've been thinking about what he said, and the thoughts appeal to me, that I have an ability to plant the erotic in someones head through my art. That's certainly what I strive to do. I like people, I like the interaction of people, I like to hint at sex, the erotic, the suggestion of pleasure.

But I can see what he means when I look at my latest drawing (done a couple of days before his comments, incidentally). I wanted to do a sexy image of a woman inviting a lover to join her. I particularly liked the idea of just a hint of interesting and intriguing bright red on an otherwise black and white image, it makes the image far sexier! The white high-lighting the skin of the woman's thighs and buttocks, as the rest of her body fades into the black background. She languidly lies back looking at the viewer, her smile an invitation to join her, as she gently raises a leg and pulls off her red panties. I loved doing the drawing, and needless to say it's called "Invitation"!!

So maybe he's right - I am psychoerotic - what do you think?

Sex on legs

The minute I saw the photo of Cherrie half-naked, draped in her pink and purple feather boa and fishnets, I knew I wanted to draw it. Such a sexy image, I found it very inspirational for an erotic artist - I just hadn't envisioned how difficult I would find it to do! I started off full of artistic momentum, secure within myself of my own talent, capabilities and abilities, and decided to do the picture as a watercolour painting with a bit of drawing perhaps for the detail. So that's what I did. .......And ....came up against a mental brick wall!! How can the picture look so stilted? How come there's no life to it? Mmmmmmm.... do it again, perhaps as a pastel on black paper, hence I'd get instant colour and the fact it would be on black would make the image more vibrant and colourful and sexy. So that's what I did for my second attempt. And.......... that was wrong too!!! How can it be ? Mmmmmm..... more thinking..... and a couple of days later tried it again using the inktense pencils that I love, instant colour, instant washes, tiny details where needed, and big colour washes elsewhere. Third time lucky, surely? Nope, that didn't work either! What on earth was I missing??? Think. Think......... Racking my brains! Then it dawned on me! What I was trying to do was copy the photo of Cherrie, and whilst it was a clear photo with enough detail, and showed me exactly what I needed to see to produce a painting, what it was capturing was a MOMENT in time. A split second, freezing Cherrie in her movements, into ONE set image. And that wasn't at all what the thing was about. Not for me. It was about her dancing, her movements, her sexuality, her provocative hip movements, her smile, the way she dipped her head, the way she moved her hands sensuously up her body, the way the boa twitched and writhed, and blurred into movement as it was twirled around her body. That was what I wanted to paint - the whole build-up to that very moment, when the camera caught the image. So, I started again, and that was what I painted! And here it is - in watercolour, with the paint splattered on, to show her dancing, grooving, gyrating, provoking and showing her innate sexuality, her appeal and allure, her desirability and sensuality. Hiding her face under a hat, thrusting her hips out, revelling in the sensation of fishnet hold-ups and her sexy high heels, the feather boa a lovely accompaniment to her erotic dance, hiding her skin, flashing part of her left breast and a nipple. Dancing to her sexual beat. Sooo.............. How did I do?

Black feathers

Whilst thinking of ideas for ways of doing the sexy picture of Cherrie cavorting in her boa I thought it would make a nicely erotic picture to draw a woman wearing a black feather boa, on a black background, but only capturing the white of her skin through the feathers. I also wanted the solid female flesh as a nice contrast for the softness of the feathers, just picking out the profile of her breast, the curve of her back falling down to her buttocks, a hint of thigh, her arm bent to add to the tightness of the composition. So having done it, I think it works well enough as an image. I love doing these white on black drawings, just picking out the details of light against the pure black of the paper. Not every part of her body needs to be drawn or every feather in the boa for the viewer to understand the picture. Good job - it would be a nightmare to depict every feather in a boa! The picture is called "froth of feathers" although I think the model would call it "spitting feathers" as she said wearing it, was like being attacked by a hundred chickens!!

Three of a kind

I thought it might be a nice idea to do a series of drawings based on the colours emanating from a woman before, during and after an orgasm. So here they are, in the order they should be viewed. The first is called "Allure" and the woman lies provocatively, her left hand idly fingering her nipple, as her right hand wanders down to her crutch and starts to play with herself. She's giving off a scarlet glow, as the lust and passions rise, her mouth slightly open, as her eyes stare into the distance as her fantasies start to take form....

The second image is called "Orgasm" as the woman gives off a white hot glow, as she pleasures herself, and loses herself in the moment, her fingers busy and her head thrown back in ecstasy.

And the last image is entitled "Afterglow" as she lies satiated, her hands behind her head, her left leg pulled in tightly to her body, to enjoy the final throbbing warmth from her orgasm. She's at peace, and giving off a warm afterglow of contentment, her mind wandering, on to the next fantasy, she'll soon be ready to go again....
And on a separate note, I was in the pub last night when a hand tapped me on the shoulder and I turned to find two women waiting to speak to me. They were apologetic for interrupting my evening, but they wanted to thank me for a painting I'd completed recently. The first woman had commissioned it, as a leaving present for the other, as she was returning to America after living in England for a few years. The American woman then went on to say how much she liked the painting, and what a lovely memento of her time here it was, as it was a landscape of the village she'd been living in, and she would treasure it always, and was delighted to meet the artist. I was delighted to hear it, I said, and delighted to do it for her! It was lovely to meet her, as its always nice to know where my paintings are going to and meet the people they are intended for. They departed then, again with an apology for interrupting me, but they had made my evening and I spent the rest of it in a happy afterglow.
Earlier that evening, a new acquainttance had rung me to thank me for my help in participating in a local exhibition last weekend. "My pleasure", I said. And it is. I love art, and everything to do with it. Even setting up an exhibition, and all the hard work that goes with it, even if there isn't a sale at the end of it, at least its promotion, and I always get good feed-back, and meet interesting and charming people through it. Its even better when I sell a painting though - its the best feeling in the world, that someone wants to own one of my paintings, hang it on their wall, and view it for ever more because in someway it connects with an idea, or thought, a feeling or emotion they have, that my painting evokes in them.
Its a life long quest, Art, searching for more ideas, more things to portray, the way that life and art and art and life are inter-connected: the people I meet, and the things they say to me, that makes me realise that I am fulfilling a desire in others, as much as in myself. Its quite a heady responsibility! But I love it!

Sex in the landscape

While I'm spending time thinking about the poses I'm going to use for Hornymaleuk and my female model when I draw them, I'm considering the lines and shapes I want to incorporate in my images. And I know its basically a human landscape I'm drawing..... when I draw a supine woman I see flat plains of stomach, incorporating the lake of navel, rising up to the gently rolling hills of breasts topped with a citadel of nipple over-looking the plains below, the soft contours of arm and shoulder, leading down to fingers of land stretching out from hands to form bridges and arches. The land slopes down to a dense copse of trees at the base of the of groin, hiding a steep ravine and ferned grotto from which flows a gushing waterfall tumbling down to the deep dark valley below............

I've not forgotten.....

........but its been difficult to arrange the logistics of getting three people together. So finally we've been able to set a date for me to draw hornymaleuk with a female model. And between now and then I'll be racking my brains for poses, ideas, colours and styles, as well as the important one of hiding his body shape so that he's not recognised. Mmmmmm... that's going to be difficult again, but at least I know what he looks like now, so that will make it easier than the first time. And putting two people together, makes for more interesting poses than just one on their own, its just keeping that fine line between erotic and pornographic that I need to consider too. I've got a few ideas for poses, so now I'll have to consider the lighting aspects too, and how long the models can keep the poses for (twice the problem with cramped muscles, aching legs, and cold skin). And until I do the drawing I won't relax, I know I'll be thinking deeply about this right up until I complete the images. Who said art was easy?!!

Scarlet woman

After various conversations this week regarding stockings and suspenders, I thought it might be a nice idea to do an erotic drawing of some! I'm half happy with the image.... for me it needs more dramatic darks in it to give the lost and found edges that I love in a drawing, which make the image settle more into the background. But this was just an exercise in an erotic drawing more than anything else. I did it with a water soluble black pen and neocolor water soluble wax pastels, which entailed putting the pen and pastels dry onto the paper, then using clear water brushed over them to mix the colours and add shading where necessary. I think I might to it again at some point, perhaps in dry pastel on black paper, creating the mid-tones and high- lights or maybe even on scarlet paper putting in the darks and lights with conte pencil. I've called the drawing "dressed to thrill" and its up to the viewer to decide whether she's dressing in anticipation of going out to meet a lover, or undressing in front of the lover......

Feeling colours

Since I've stated that the colour I feel within me as a person is gold, I've been asking other people this week what colour they "feel" and had some interesting responses. Some people can answer this question within a minute, with certainty and a positive forthright answer. But others I've asked just look at me blankly and reply that they don't know what on earth I'm talking about and couldn't possibly give me any sort of answer to this question. Why is that I wonder? I know as an artist I understand and think colours more than most people do, so is that the reason? Or do our brains just relate to some concepts easier than others? When I asked some artist friends yesterday what colours they "feel" only one couldn't reply, but I had the responses of "light red" from a passionate and happy extrovert guy, "orange" from an up-beat and caring woman, and "red at the moment but blue normally" from a currently stressed and hard-working female! I shall continue to survey people and am intrigued at the replies I'm getting so far.....

I've recently finished a painting that I'm quite pleased with as a concept. Its of a naked big breasted fantasy woman, with multi-limbs in various positions, portraying her as multi-tasking, and able to juggle many things on different levels, simultaneously. It's brightly painted in yellows and golds and deep prussian blues, using the pour-on technique that I love so much as the background, to give fluidity to the image and more of a fantasy feel to it. I've called it "Everywoman" and I think many women will relate to it, as they juggle jobs, relationships, family, and other interests.

What colour am I?

Before I say what I am....I can say with absolute certainty what colours I am not. I'm not bottle green, anything grey, brown or beige. I'm definitely not magnolia, cream, baby blue, pale pink (or any other shade of pink), lemon yellow or mint green. Infact I'm no pale colour whatsoever. I could never be anything so insipid! Nor am I any shade of green, not even vibrant, throbbing lively lime green. I could almost be the colour purple, regal and deep and never ignored, but I'm not quite..... No, I'm a warm colour, a rich colour, a strong and sensuous colour. I'm the colour of gold. Not the shiny brassy new gold, freshly formed and brazen, but of older gold, mellowed with time and constant caressing, full of desireability, confident of its appeal and value to others. That's the colour I am...... but scratch the surface and underneath there is the colour of voluptuous vermilion, the slash of red on the pouting luscious lips of a wanton woman, the red of desire and lust, passion and sex. And deeper even than that, is another colour - a dark blue, deeper than navy but not as lethal as pure black. Its an inky blue, of velvety depth.... its midnight blue.

That's my colour - the colour of a scarlet, wanton woman, her golden skin by seductive candlelight, at the hour of midnight......

Another Horny session

After the great success of the drawing session with hornymaleuk the other week, he's requested a repeat performance with me. I'm touched and delighted that he wants to meet again. I thoroughly enjoyed our previous time together, and the experience of drawing him, complete with the restrictions of not revealing his public face (and body!). And just to add a frisson of interest to the session he has requested a female model to pose with him, which I've been able to find for him, much to his obvious delight!!! I'm expecting a fun filled erotic time with them both, and although they haven't met each other yet, and won't do until the art session, I think they are well suited personality wise, and body wise. I think they will fit together well enough. I just need to think of some suitable poses for them to do now. Any ideas?
