Attributes

A good start to the year - my one hundredth blog post! Yay!!!

Getting back into the mind set of being an erotic artist, after doing two dog commissions, and I've been thinking about what makes an image "erotic". I know when I look at someone I see various attributes of their persona that I would enhance to make my image erotic, but, would another erotic artist see necessarily the same things? Perhaps. Perhaps not. And would the person being drawn consider the attributes I see as their own best features? Perhaps. Perhaps not. I might think their eyes are striking, especially the written invitation in them, but the person in question might think their mouth is their best feature. MMm........ So considering myself, I think I know my own "best attributes"..... but do others see in me something I don't see in myself? Perhaps. Perhaps not....... So, do we need to be drawn by someone else for them to pick out our essence, the part of us we might feel inside, but we don't see in ourselves when we look in the mirror? Perhaps we do. And, maybe, there will be some pleasant surprises................

Good Friday morning to you, Jackie.

I think the biggest thrill is when someone sees you as you see yourself...

So if you think your eyes are beguiling, if you think your mouth is a pink rosebud of softenss -- if you think your energy is tigerish and hot depsite the modest clothes - and you can FEEL all that in the image that is drawn/apinted/photographed, I think it is a resounding success.

My favorite image - although itisn't erotic - is Patrick Demarchelier (sp ?) black-and-white piccures of the late Princess Diana at Highgrove with William & Harry when they were young.

You can just FEEL the love and the closeness.

Same with the sensuality of Aldo Luongo's work...

Loving annie - And as an artist, that's what I strive to depict in my artwork, not always what you can see ... but also what you can feel......

Congratulations on your 100th blog post. I find it scary when I hit those milestones - thinking how much rambling I subject people to! You poor things ;)

Hope you had a good one anyway and will hopefully see you soon!

I've seen several images of myself and I try to fight my way out of the turmoil that plagues my mind..from what I see in the mirror isn't what I feel. As for art I hold strong of what is before me, the energies that pull me toward the piece hanging on the wall, beit naked flesh, raw with love..to grasp its' living breathing pulsating image, a piece of it belongs to the artist, you can feel his/her energy, her warmth coming out of the canvas..this is what art is about, this is you Jackie.

Lucy - the most difficult blog post was my first one!

And it'll be good to see you soon for a girly chat.... about working in the realms of erotica. Sigh. Someone's gotta to it!! lol

Indigo - Yes, art is a partnership between the artist and the subject, both their energies should flow into the painting and become the image. And they should be seen and felt by the viewer......

Congratulations on your 100th post, Jackie.

I agree with annie, when you see in a photograph or even a description, that someone has seen the inner "you."

Vi - Ok, I'll try to do them quicker than the last 100!!

Hi Jackie. Congratualtions on your 100th post! As you can see, I'm just catching up after the New Year.

Whilst taking the photographs to put on my blog I have realised that how I think I look is completely different to how other people see me. A long, hard look in the mirror was called for!

Racy redhead - it's interesting that it took your blog for you to realise that. Perhaps you have to change other people's perceptions so that they see the real you!
